Making a Siamese 3x3x3:
How to Make a 3x3x3 Siamese Cube. v1.0:
by: Caleb Lau
Introduction:
This is the beginning step for all future puzzle builders. Only three (3) pieces need to be made: 2 corner connector pieces and 1 edge connector piece. Because I have not yet made one, I decided to do so and to include a guide here on GottaCube.
Before we begin, I'll go over the materials I used to construct the puzzle. For the mechanism, I used two (2) Rubik's 3x3x3s. I also used some epoxy putty and super glue for adhesion. As for tools, I mainly used a hacksaw and a variable speed hand rotary tool (on low to medium speeds) and course to super-fine sandpaper.
Now that we've established that, let's begin! (Captions are below the pictures.)
Note: This is my interpretation on how to make this puzzle. There are probably better ways to make a 3x3x3 Siamese, here's mine. I am not liable for any damage you do to you and/or your puzzle(s).
These are the two 3x3x3 Rubik's Cubes that I used.
Put your cubes side-by-side and make sure to take the right pieces out of the two cubes.
Use a hacksaw to cut the pieces needed (undercut them to allow for finer, controlled sanding).
You should be cutting at or around the area shown here.

This is a test fit of the pieces.
Use some epoxy putty (I used Apoxy Sculpt) to fill in any gaps in the pieces. Also, use the putty to adhere one piece to another.
This is what the piece(s) should look like. Sorry, it is hard to see it in the picture.

Use a rotary tool to sand down to about the right shape.
Next, use sandpaper to sand the piece down to the perfect size. Remember, you only have to make 3 pieces for this puzzle, so make them well. Don't rush through anything.
The pieces sanded to the right size. The next step is to paint and finish the pieces. Tip on Painting: Spray each piece individually. Then, hang them up with some wire (or paperclips) to let them dry.

The finished puzzle. It's just missing two (2) stickers.
Stickered.
Some twists.
Slighty scrambled.
The 3x3x3 Siamese is definantly a puzzle to consider if you are planning on getting into puzzle building, but don't know where to start. It's a very simple build that also poses quite a solving challenge. Once again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Happy Cubing!
